Sarah (Sallie) Spruill

Notes:

Sarah and her family moved to Lauderdale County, Tennessee from North Carolina when she was 14. They traveled in a covered wagon and could on manage about 20 miles a day due to the terrible roads. She is one of five children, the last being born in Haywood County, Tennessee. She is enumerated with the 1860 census with Susie and Henry.

In the 1870 census she is enumerated as living with her daughter Louisa and family. She is listed as "Sally".

Washington Co., North Carolina Deed Book CC, page 131, dated October 16, 1888 shows Sally Castellaw of Lauderdale Co.,Tennessee, heir and only survivor and heir at law of Hezekiah Spruill, deceased, sold land to J. J. Woodley of Washington County for $1.00, land bought by her father on October 30, 1815(Deed Book G, page 819-820)

Sarah married Henry Dawson CASTELLAW, Jr. 28 Sep 1831. Henry (son of Henry Dawson CASTELLAW) was born ca 1801, Bertie Co. NC; died Bef 15 Dec 1855, Haywood Co. TN. [Group Sheet]

1. Benjamin Henry CASTELLAW was born 25 Jul 1834, Tennessee; died Between 1861-1865.
