Annette Barbara Meigs Hammond, 87, of Buena Vista died Monday, May 8, 2006 at the Shenandoah Valley Health Care Center.

Born July 29, 1918 in Burlington, VT, she was the daughter of the late George and Grace Humphrey Meigs. She was a member of the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir for over 50 years and was also a member of the Eastern Star.

Her husband, Clayton F. Hammond preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, Bruce Hammond and wife, Nancy of Princeton, WV and Bill Hammond; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; and a close friend, Aldene E. Gordon of Rowley, Massachusetts.

The funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at the Lomax Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert McMullen officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 7 to 8 p.m. at Lomax Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church. Lomax Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
