Newton Woodward was the son of Rebecca Woodward. The Marriage Record states Newton is the son of Newton and A. Woodward. 

appears in the 1860 Washington Co. VA Census, he and Jasper F. Woodward are twins, however, Joye Boardman suspects Jasper is 2 -3 years younger 

1860 Washington Co. VA Census ... Lists Newton Keith..he was born before his mother, Rebecca married Burnell Keith. By 1880 he was using the Woodward name.

1880 Washington Co. VA Census..Newton, Helen, George W., age 4, Sarah, age 1.

1900 Washington Co. VA Census..Newton, age 49;  wife, Anner L.; William C., age 19, born 1881, Jasper, age 16, born Aug 1883. Living with them is Rebecca (Woodward) Keith, age 79, widow born May 1821. (Newton's mother).
 
1910 Washington Co.. VA Census...Newton is 58, widower, living in household of son-in-law, Marion McCray in Saltville District.
