Sara Lee Rose Nicely, 78, of Lexington, died Thursday, March 7, 2002 in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Mrs. Nicely was born on August 18, 1923 in Richmond, a daughter of the late Curlee Hobson Rose and Jessie Onie Peyton Rose.

She was a member of the Manly Memorial Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ladies' Bible Sunday School Class. She worked 18 years for Burlington Industries and provided day care for numerous children in the Lexington area for many years. She was preceded in death by one brother, Roth B. Rose.

Mrs. Nicely is survived by her husband, Kenton L. Nicely; one daughter, Carole Rose Barton and husband, Steven Blain Barton, all of Lexington; three sisters: Maruma Rose Warren, Roanoke; Lucretia Rose Fresquez, Williamsburg; and Sherrill Rose Ogden, Atlanta, GA.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2002 at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Gordon officiating with burial to follow in the Oxford Presbyterian Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Arthritis Foundation-VA Chapter, 3805 Cutshaw Avenue, Suite 200, Richmond, VA 23230 or the Manly Memorial Baptist Church, 202 S. Main Street, Lexington, VA 24450. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Saturday at the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington.
