Thomas was on a visit to Washington County, on the Holston River to a place called Davenport's Bend to visit his brother, Osborne. (A place later occupied by David Worley and his family). Permelia was also on a visit to her sister, Mollie who was married to Osborne. The two met and 2 years later married. They settled in Washington County on a farm. Thomas was said to be a fine violinist and a member of the Baptist Church.
A deed was found dated Aug 15, 1809 Washington Co. Deed Book, 4, page 204, between Thomas Davenport and Isaac Woodward and wife for $500.00, 80 acres in 2 parcels, 10 acres granted to Anthony Fitzpatrick on Dec 10, 1796 and 70 acres granted to Fitpatrick on Apr 8, 1800 to Isaac Woodward on May 18, 1802 on South Branch North Fork, Holston River. Proved 15 August 1809.
