Name Briand or Brian was anglicised about 1740. James Bryant was Secretary of King William Parish, VA in 1744. Was a large land and slave owner. Was a member of the Court. Bought 68 acres of land from Pierre Dupuy and his wife Judith Lefevre Dupuy for 20 pounds on 16 May 1732. They were his sister-in-law and her husband. Sold these 68 acres for 40 pounds to William Sallee in Sep 1736.
Home was located on Jones Creek, near the mouth of the Dutoy Creek in Powhatan, Co. Owned lands near Midlothian, Chesterfield, Co. VA. During the Revolutionary War, coal was mined from these lands.

The "Huguenot" No. 2 Pg. 17 give date of birth and death of Jacques. Was Secretary at King William Parish in 1744.,,

Fled to England after the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes. Isaac sailed from Gravesend, England on the ship "Peter and Anthony" and arrived in Jamestown Sep 20, 1700. He settled at Manakintown. Purchased 68 acres Oct 31, 1716 from the widow of Gideon Chambon (Chambonne)., Ca. 1714 he is listed as Isaac Lesebure with a wife, one son, and three daughters. In 1720 was a resident of Jamestown, VA. (Unconfirmed).

This database contains the ship listings of a number of Huguenot refugees who traveled to Virginia in 1700. The two ships, the Mary and Ann and the Peter and Anthony, arrived in James City on the 12th of August and 20th of September respectively. Each record reveals the adult passenger's name and number of minors in their company.

She arrived in America with her brother, Isaac Parenteau several weeks before her husband. She sailed on the Mary and Ann of London which arrived 12 Aug1700. Her brother Isaac was executor of her will. The will was made on 19 April 1720, it was witnessed 6 June, 1720. She divided her property among her three daughters. On 1 Aug 1720 the inventory of the estate was presented.
