Different genealogies differ on the wife of John VI Le Strange. Jamesina Remfry on the Le Strange Website tells us John was married twice, with the first wife being named Maud. The second wife was Joan de Ingham. The Corbet Genealogy shows Joan as the only wife. Remfry shows Maud, the first wife, as the mother of son Roger, and reports no children with Joan. Others report both wives, but show Joan as the mother of son Roger.

1299 "Summoned" as 1st Baronet Lord Strange of Knockin
The Barony of Strange of Hunstanton started as a branch of the original Strange (Le Strange) family and the Barony of Knockin (Knockyn) in Shropshire, on the border (frontier or "marches") of Wales. The Strange family was one of those charged with containing the border area with the wild Celts of Wales, who would revolt against the Normans periodically. Hunstanton is in Norfolk, and Strange (Le Strange) lines were there from the generation or two before the Norman conquest in 1066. The Le Stranges are associated with the Celtic-Norman counts and Dukes of Brittany.
