  Their two offspring, James and Chat, provide their mother's name as Mary Baldwin on their marriage certificates, but do not give their father's name. It could be Mary did not marry George, but her sons used the Christian name, and she used it on the 1880 census. Or George and Mary were married and divorced with the 2 sons not recognizing their father. This requires more research to discover what actually happened.
