Carpenter and in which the fourth generation of his family now resides. He married, April 5, 1866, Sarah E., daughter of Edmond and Sarah P. (Blakey) Duncan. To them have been born Mildred, Mary S., Jonathan T., May, George B., Luther, Florence and Herbert. Mr. Carpenter started in life as a farmer; also speculated some in stock and in leaf tobacco. He is now the owner of 540 acres of fine land in the best portion of Warren County. He is a member of the Christian Church and a Democrat of the Jeffersonian school.
