Notes	Excerpt from Tate Families of the Southern States, Volume II, 1984, by Laura W. Mentzel & Ethel S. Updike He was born circa 1824 in Warren County, TN. The 1870 Federal Census for Dekalb County, Al shows him to be 46. The enumerator recited in 1880 that he was born in 1812. He died in Dekalb County, AL prior to 1887 and in a letter to Martin Van Buren Tate family, Dr. Killian stated he died in 1874/77. He married Delaney (Lane) Killian, born in 1826 in AL. There were many of the name in Warren County, TN. However, because of the destruction of court records it is difficult to determine just where they came from or who they were. Her parents were Elias and Nancy Killian. On January 11, 1887 in Dekalb County, Al, Anthony Abraham Tate, and wife; Alexander Colett and wife Mary E.; Sally Tate, parties of the first part, being legal heirs of Mayburn and Lane Tate, deceased, certain of the estate to Garret W. Webb and William E. Quinn together with other heirs viz: Thomas Horn, and wife Betty; John Bost and wife Jane, Joseph J. McNutt and wife, Almeda, now residents of Howard County, AR.
