Several scars on her face still remain. 15 Nov. 1912 Clinch Valley News, Pounding Mill Mrs. Alex ALTIZER visited her son, Elbert, at Gillespie last week. OBITUARY George E. Altizer, lifelong resident of Tazewell County, died last Friday in St Lukes Hospital in Bluefield. he had lived for the past three years with a daughter, Mrs. Charles Nichols of Bluefield. Funeral services were held at Tazewell Christian Church Monday afternoon with the Rev. M.E.N. Lindsey in charge, assisted by the Rev. Eugene May of Bluefield. Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery in North Tazewell. He was preceded in death by his wife and by a son, Charles E. Altizer, who was killed during WW II and by one sister. He is survived by five other daughters; Mrs. Walter Witt of Medicine Park, Okla., Mrs. Gratton Lambert of Amonate, Mrs. Charles Suiter of Salem, Mrs. John Lockhart of Bluefield, and Mrs. William Strickland of Northfolk, Va.; two sons, Hoyt A. Altizer and Henry F. Altizer of North Tazewell; two brothers, D.W. (Doc) Altizer of Honaker and Robert Altizer of Charolettesville, Va., one sister, Mrs. John M. Hankins of Richlands.
