  Notes	William Nelson's parents were William Nelson and Haneva Ellen Nelson. His mother was taken away by Carpetbaggers during the Civil War and not seen again.  William did not know his exact age.  The whereabouts of his father is not known. It has been said William was raised in the home of Jessie Callahan (born Dec 24, 1827, died Jan 10, 1907, buried Holston Conf. Cem.) who was found living in Glade Spring, VA during the 1860 Washington Co. VA Census.  Jessie Callahan was a brother of William Callahan.  William is buried beside his first wife, Maggie Callahan (Nelson), at the Holston Conf. Cemetery, Emory, VA. [1]
