Jackie Lee Neal, Sr.
NARROWS, Va. ? Jackie Lee Neal, Sr., 72 of Narrows, Va., passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 21st, 2010 at his home on Stockpen Mountain.
He was born in Bluefield, W.Va. on September 24th, 1937 and was the son of the late Gussie Lee Neal and Vivian Ellen McGhee Price. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Rhetta Mae Robertson Neal; a daughter, Karen Alicia Neal; a sister, Irene Johnson; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Known best to his friends and family as ?Shorty,? Jackie was a retired employee of Celanese Acetate in Narrows with over 35 years service. He also served in the United States Army from 1958 until 1962. But he?ll best be remembered as a loving father and grandfather, and one who never met a stranger. He?ll be dearly missed by his loved ones, friends at Burger King and Food Time in Narrows, and teachers and staff at Narrows Elementary/Middle School.
Left to cherish his memory are a son, Jackie Lee Neal, Jr. and wife Alicia of Peterstown; three daughters, Kristi and Barry McGuyer, Lori Neal and Jimmy Cornwell, and Ashley and Jason Robertson, all of Narrows; seven grandchildren, Tyler and Abbi McGuyer of Narrows, Kalyn and Landon Neal of Peterstown, and Zachery, Jacob and Brody Robertson, all of Narrows; a brother, Billy Neal of Pearisburg; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many special friends, including very special friends, Barbara ?Grammy? Ball of Peterstown, and the girls, Barbara and Carol.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 24th, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Riffe?s Funeral Service in Narrows with Donald Henegar, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows with graveside rites conducted by VFW Post #6000 of Narrows, American Legion Posts #68 of Narrows, #311 of Pembroke and #145 of Peterstown.
