Farley M. Adair, age 59, of Dunham Road, Mount Vernon, died on Wednesday July 16, 2003 at his home. Mr. Adair was born on June 2, 1944 in Welch, West Virginia. He was the adopted son of Thomas F. and Martha F. Adair.
Mr. Adair was a member and deacon of the Mount Zion Primitive Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of the city of Dayton, Ohio where he had been employed as a Dayton Police Officer, Air Port police officer and Assistant Chief of Airport Police. He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Police (John C. Post Lodge-Dayton, Ohio), The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Union (AFSCME) Local 101, The American Federation of Police and an associate member of the Ohio Association of Chief?s of Police. Mr. Adair was a 1961 graduate of Centerburg High School. A 1964 Graduate of the Ohio State School of Cosmetology and a 1966 graduate of the Dayton Police Academy. He also attended numerous police training courses during his professional career.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, 6 months, and 14 days, Sharon M. Glass-Adair. He is also survived by one adoptive brother, McGennis E. Adair Sr., an adoptive sister, Nora E. Short and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his adoptive parents, he was preceded in death by two adoptive brothers, John and Frederick Adair.
Friends may call on Sunday from 1 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held at 9PM. A graveside service will be held on Thursday July 24, 2003 at 11 AM at Rose Hill Cemetery near Orlando, Florida. His nephews will serve as pallbearers.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of the family and can be left at the funeral home.
