Sept. 22, 1937 - (Special) - Funeral services for George W. Rice 61, whose death occurred Friday were held at the home Sunday at 2 pm. The Rev. B.D. Willetts and the Rev. William Henry Day Officiated. Mr. Regan and his daughter, Mrs. Ruth Sargent, of Williamsfield, sang "Will There Be Any Stars" and Old Rugged Cross." Pallbearers were Hugh McBeth, Arthur Berry, Orla Hazen, Charles Gardner, John England and Jacob England.
George W. Rice, son of Edward and Elizabeth Westfall Rice, was born near Hebron, Ind., Nov. 9, 1875. He became sick Dec. 12, 1934, had a stroke Jan. 15, 1935, and was in the hospital three weeks. He was cared for at home the rest of the time and mostly by his wife, Mrs. George W. Rice, and had a nurse only the last 11 days.
He was married to Gertrude S. Fields, Sept. 8, 190, at Gilson in the Methodist parsonage by the Rev. Mr. Rist.
He leaves his widow and adopted son, Homer Edward; two sisters, Mrs. Anna E. Anderson of Lisco, Neb., and Mrs. Lavina Lutcavish of Laramie, Wyo., and one brother, Edward Rice of Canton, Mo. Preceding him in death were one sister, Mrs. Lettie Anneker, and two brothers, Frank and Harvey Rice.
