  Notes	OBITUARY Severy Record; 27 May 1887 Mr. James Butts died at his home 2/1/2 miles north-west of Severy, on Monday night, last and was buried on Tuesday; Rev. Brownson, of Climax, preached the funeral sermon. A large gathering of people followed the remains to the cemetery. Mr. Butts would have been 63 years old, next Monday. He was born in Ohio and remained there for 31 years when he moved to Indiana in 1856, a place from which he came to Kansas in 1872, and onto the farm where he died. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn his loss.
