  Notes	The Democrat News (Marshall MO); 4 December 1991 Ida Lou Sterrett Barnds, 87, of Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas a former Slater resident, died Monday, December, 2, 1991, at Harris Hospital in Fort Worth. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, December 6, in Slater City Cemetery. The Rev. William Joseph Barnds will officiate. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the department of classical studies at the University of Missouri-Columbia or the Guild of All Souls in South Orange, New Jersey. Born June 5, 1904, in Slater, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Burks and Elizabeth Caldwell Sterrett. She was married to the Rt. Rev. William Paul Barnds, who preceded her in death on January 24, 1973. She was a graduate of Missouri Valley College and received a master's degree in classical languages from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She taught at Stafford High School in Stafford, Kansas; Hardin College in Mexico, Missouri; and was adjunct professor of Latin at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth before her retirement. She lived in Fort Worth since 1956 and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Fort Worth. She was a member of the American Association of University Women. Survivors include a son, the Rev. William Joseph Barnds of Gering, Nebraska; two daughters, Mrs. James (Mary Ida) Garrad of Sherman, Grayson County, Texas and Mrs. Nicholas (Virginia Lou) Albanese of Amesbury, Mass.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, William W. Sterrett of Slater.
