He was born in Augusta County on April 18, 1922. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War. II, and a retired carpenter. He was a member of Mt. Joy Presbyterian Church and the Steeles Tavern Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife, Janie Lawhorne Rowe; two sons, Roger Lee Rowe of Richmond and Larry Joe "Pete" Rowe of Raphine; three daughters, Freda R. Hays of Greenville, Reda R. Hendricks of Raphine and Shirley R. Wolfe of Churchville; three . sisters, Irene Bartley of Staunton, Beatrice Thurston of Fairfax and Edith Anderson of Raphine; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted on Saturday, Oct. 9, at Mt. Joy Presbyterian Church by Dr. Woodward D. Morriss Jr., and the Rev. Clifford D. Caldwell. Burial followed in the Mt. Carmel Presbyterian' Church cemetery.
