He was born May 28, 1921, in Fairfield, a son of the late Herman Heslep and Forrest Heslep. He owned and operated a plumbing and heating business, from which he retired in 2003. In his retire­ment, he continued to have a septic business. He served with the 29th Infantry and 540th Corp of Engineers in World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was a member of Concord Church of the Brethren, and served as a deacon, trustee, and member of the finance board and cemetery committee. He was pre­ceded in death by his first wife, Frances Figgers Heslep. He is survived by his second wife, Peggy Jennings Heslep; a son, Wayne Heslep of Lexington; a daughter, Evelyn Heslep of Lexington; two stepsons, Bobby Jennings of Fairfield, and Mike Jennings of Fairfield; five step­grandchildren and two step-great­grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Harrison Funeral Home chapel, by Rick Labate and the Rev. James Smals.
