      Charles Sloan "Chuck" Patton III, 75, of Waynesboro, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 29, 2011, at home.

      He was born on May 5, 1936, in Watertown, New York, the son of the late Charles Sloan Patton, Jr. and Frances (Starbuck) Patton.

      Chuck was a man of great faith, he loved the Lord Jesus Christ and he was an active member of Cornerstone Church of Augusta. His life reflected serving the Lord and others, he spent many years in ministry at local nursing homes, and various other ministries and his life influenced many people.

      Chuck retired from Hopeman Brothers as a designer and he enjoyed spending time with family, friends and involving himself in "projects".

      He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, of 44 years, Jean Bailes Patton.

      In addition to his wife, he is survived by a twin sister, Frances Davis and her husband, Curtis, of Roanoke, Virginia; four sons, Charles Sloan "Chip" Patton IV and his wife, Cheryl, of Burlington, Vermont, Michael Randall "Mike" Patton and his wife, Cindy, of Arlington, Virginia, James Randall "Randy" Fox and his wife, Lynn, of Keswick, Virginia, and Gregory Allen "Greg" Fox and his wife, Robbye, of Olney, Maryland; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

      A celebration of life service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Cornerstone Church of Augusta, 1156 Tinkling Spring Road, Staunton, with Pastor Greg Mayo and Pastor Whitney Critzer officiating.

      In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cornerstone Church of Augusta-Debt Retirement, 1156 Tinkling Spring Road, Staunton, VA 24401.
