- OBITUARY
Oris Ellis Cantrell, age 63 of Raven, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Born December 9, 1946 at Buchanan County, Virginia he was the son of the late Jim and Goldie Cantrell. He was a retired coal miner with Island Creek Coal Company and a member of UMWA. Oris attended Freedom Ministry Church at Richlands.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis Cantrell and John Lee Cantrell; sister-in-law, Judy Cantrell and brother-in-laws, Kenneth Fredrick and Charles Crawford.
He is survived by his second wife of 20 years, Peggy Cantrell; one son, Jamie Cantrell and wife Leigh of Pounding Mill, VA; three daughters, Cat Arrington of Radford, VA, Penny Falck and husband John of Christiansburg, VA and Amy Hess and husband Terry of Vansant, VA; one step daughter, Kimberly Cunningham and husband Terry of Bristol, VA; one step son, Michael Millard of Piney Flats, TN; four step grandchildren; five sisters, Annabelle McDonald and husband Ray of California, Naomi Fredrick of Ashland, OH, Erma Horne and husband Joe of Cedar Bluff, VA, Mary Crawford of Cliffield, VA and Carrie Hammond of Cedar Bluff, VA; one sister-in-law, Bonnie Cantrell of Mansfield, OH; also his first wife Anita Carol Burke Cantrell and many nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Virginia with Rev. Mickey Hale officiating. Burial will follow in the Ferrell Cemetery at Horn Mountain, Virginia. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 P.M. Friday at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Freedom Ministry Church, PO Box 176, Pounding Mill, VA 24637 or a charity of choice.
