Dennis John Knutson, U.S. Navy, retired, 84, of Melbourne, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2006. Cmdr. Knutson retired after 30 plus years in the U.S. Navy. He served in World War II. Korea and Vietnam. Cmdr. Knutson is survived by his wife, Ellouise (Shelton) Knutson; three sons, Michael (Karen), John (Judy) George (Cathy), six grandchildren; two sisters; and two brothers. Interment was in Marion, Ohio, on Tuesday, March 21, 2006. A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2006 at Advent Lutheran Church, 7550 N. Wickham Road. The Rev. Rick Hartmann will officiate. -------------- Dennis John Knutson was born in Park River, ND to Minnie Irene (Jobe) and Clinton Wilbert Knutson in 1921. Lt Cmdr. Dennis John Knutson served 30 plus years in the United States Navy. He served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam, receiving the Meritorious Service Medal, and Purple Heart. He Married Gladys Ellouise Shelton in 1947, in Yuma, AZ. Together that raised three sons, Michael, John and George. His career took him all over the world. He was stationed while on land, in California, Alaska, Panama, Occupied Japan, Virginia and Illinois. His family traveled with him, and upon his retirement, he moved to Marion, Ohio so that his wife could be closer to her family.
