Bible of Patty Scaggs Whitt: (Griffy Whitt deceased the 28th of August the year 1853 on Sabbath) Listed on Muster Roll CO A, 122th Reg. 2nd.Batt. of light Infantry militia, commanded by John Cecil of Tazewell Co. Va. Jan. 18, 1810. Helped start the Baptist Church in Coon Creek, Missouri Dec. 1844. Bought 130 acres on Reedy Ridge from his father Hezekiah in 1808. Left Virginia 1844, and traveled to Missouri on horse back.
