Born February 5, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Rena Absher. Rosa had been a life long resident of the Richlands, VA area before moving to Covington, GA just over a year ago. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward V. Messick; four sisters - Mattie Stilwell, Artie Keen, Maxie Williamson and Nell Buckles; and four brothers - Jim Absher, Roy Absher, Dewey Absher and Lloyd Absher. She is survived by two sons, William Messick and wife Phyllis of Pounding Mill, VA and Glen Messick and wife Doris of Covington, GA, with whom she had made her home since moving to Covington; one grandson, Marty Messick and wife Elizabeth and one granddaughter Tina Baldwin and husband Greg; four great grandchildren - Roxanne Messick, Lesha Cyphers, Leah Cyphers and Jordan Cyphers also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Virginia. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be Saturday, August 28 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff, Virginia.
