He left with his younger brother Horace who went to Independence, MO, before moving to Cass Co., IA by 1862. Charles cant be found on the 1860 index anywhere, but was probably in MO also. He was still single, marrying in Cass Co., IA in 1862. They had 5 children, losing 3 in early childhood. (Family records)

In 1880 Charles and Sarah were still in Iowa, Cass Co., although Sarah's father, sister, Emma her family had already moved on to CA. Charles must have gone there perhaps after 1890, and was in Tulare Co. by 1897-1898.

Charles married Sarah Allen 01 Jun 1862, Lewis, Cass Co. IA. Sarah was born 09 Jul 1843, Cincinnati, OH; died 09 Nov 1922, Visalia, Tulare Co. CA. [Group Sheet]
