Notes:

William (Bill) Steele Sr., 84, of Bandy, died Jan. 19, 1999 in a Richlands hospital following a long illness. Born at War, WV, he was the son of the late George and Matilda Quesenberry Steele.

He was a member of the Bandy Chapel Church at Bandy and was a retired coal miner. He was a retired merchant and Texaco service station operator.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, William Steele Jr. and Vinson Steele, and two grandsons, Mark Steele and Rodney Steele.

Survivors: wife of 66 years, Pansy Bandy Steele; sons, Buddy R. Steele and wife, Joan, of Potomac, MD, Douglas Steele and wife, Phyllis, and Jim R. Steele and wife, Judy, all of Cedar Bluff; daughters, Shirley Rust and husband, Robert, of Mansfield, OH, Peggy Hawthorne and husband,
Bill, of Jonesboro, AK, Katye Farmer and Bonnie Neimi and husband, Richard, all of Cedar Bluff; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a good friend, Baylor Guy.

The funeral will be conducted Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. at the Singleton Funeral Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Walter Jessee, Rev. Barry Jessee and Rev. Erston Young officiating.
Burial will follow in the Steele Family Cemetery at Bandy.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Jan. 20 at the funeral home

William married Pansy Leona Bandy. Pansy (daughter of Geroge Vincent Bandy and Hattie Elizabeth CHRISTIAN) was born 23 Aug 1916, Canebrake, McDowell Co. WV; died 08 Jan 2011, Bandy, Tazewell Co. VA. [Group Sheet]
