OBITUARY

Vella Leone McCourt Hall, 87 of Webster Springs, WV went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the home of her daughter Kathie Holcomb. She was born December 6, 1923 in Webster Springs to Roscoe Jenkins and Surilda Skeens McCourt and was formerly married to Bobbie Joe Hall. She was a school teacher, Postmaster at Diana Post Office, and worked for Webster County Senior Citizens. Vella lived most of her life in Webster Springs. She loved to quilt, cook, sew, and work in her flower gardens. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Vella is survived by her children Kathie (Frank Canfield) Holcomb and Marjorie (Doyle ?Butch?) Davis of Webster Springs, Pamela McElroy and Kimberly (Roger) Boggs of Summersville, Mike Hall and Robert Hall of Webster Springs, Lester (Penny) Hall of Cowen, Jeffery (Joy) Hall and Kevin (Rachel) Hall of Webster Springs; brothers Jennings McCourt and Ted McCourt of Webster Springs; sisters Irene Scritchfield of Clarksburg, Arlene ?Boots? Miller of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Ann Hult of Gassaway; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Judy Payne, shelby McElroy, and Mildred "Midge" Hamrick; and brother Verdon McCourt.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Saturday, August 20, 2011 from 6-9 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at 3:30 PM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Curt Davis and Rev. Gerald Hamrick officiating. OBITUARY

Dennie Roscoe [Ted] McCourt, Sr., 67 of Webster Springs, went home to meet his Lord Jesus on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at his home with his family by his side. Ted was born July 22, 1944 in Webster County to Roscoe and Surilda Skeens McCourt and was a technician for Sparks Propane. He lived most of his life in Webster County and spent 16 years in Omaha, Nebraska.

Ted was a member of Union Valley Union Mission Church where he was the Youth Leader. He was also the former Youth Leader for the Union Mission Conference. He had a way with young people who he loved and who loved him. They all called him "Teddy Bear". Ted was a true Man of God who never met a stranger and always had a smile. He loved his family and his grand kids.

Ted is survived by his wife Connie Tracy McCourt; children Dennie (Karen) McCourt of Savannah, MO, Gary (Sindie) McCourt of Cameron, MO, Debbie Clevenger of Diana, Lisa (Tim) Carpenter of Harrisonburg, VA, and Denise (Darrin) Clevenger of Diana; grandchildren Tim, Roscoe, Chris, Elizabeth, Brandon, and Steven McCourt of MO; Courtney and Coty Carpenter of VA; and Lindsey, Riley, and Harley Clevenger of WV; great-grandchildren Noah, Asher, Honesti, and Jenson McCourt of MO; brothers and sisters Jennings McCourt of Webster Springs, Irene Scritchfield of Clarksburg, Arlene [Boots] Miller of Charlotte, NC, and Ann Kamine of Gassaway; 22 nephews; 19 nieces; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Verdon McCourt; sisters Vella Hall, Midge Hamrick, Shelby McElroy, and Judy Payne; and grandson Jeremy [Bubba] McCourt.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Friday, May 18, 2012 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Ted?s life will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Curt Davis and Rev. Gerald Hamrick officiating. Interment will follow in Harrison Cochran Cemetery.
