    MC COURT Veon V. Veon V. McCourt, 92, of south Toledo, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on June 23, 2010.

    Veon was born on February 13, 1918, in Webster Springs, WV to Sylvester and Susan McCourt. A WW II USMC Veteran, Veon served in the south Pacific during the war. Upon his discharge from the service in 1946, he and his wife, June, moved to Toledo. He worked for Libbey Glass for 33 years retiring in 1983. He was a fifty-year member of the Masons and had been very active in Calumet Lodge. A longtime member of the former Broadway United Methodist Church, Veon then joined and was a current member the congregation at Zion United Methodist Church.

    Veon was an avid outdoorsman that loved to hunt and was a loyal Detroit Tigers fan. He was a devoted family man and truly loved his time with grandchildren and his extended family at family gatherings.

    He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, June McCourt; children, Gary (Bonnie) McCourt, Patricia (Ed) Scudder and Ron (Diane) McCourt; grandchildren, Kara McCourt, Ty (Amy) Fries and Adam McCourt. He is also survived by one sister, Mae Walker and many nieces and nephews.

    Friends may call on Friday, June 25th from 4-8 p.m. at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave. Viewing will continue on Saturday starting at 9 a.m. until the time of the Funeral at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider either Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Zion United Methodist Church.
