    Rev. Lonnie Ray Handy, 85, of Stuart, died Monday, March 13, at R. J. Reynolds-Patrick County Memorial Hospital.

    He was born in Floyd County and was a son of the late Martin Lewis Handy and the late Sarah Vipperman Handy.

    He was a veteran of World War II and was retired from J. P. Stevens, Inc. He served as an evangelist for several churches in the area.

    Surviving are his wife, Alpha Marshall Handy of the home; one brother, John W. Handy of Danville; two sisters, Goldie Martin and Ocie Kent, both of Richmond.

    A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Schoolfield Cemetery in Danville.

    Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of arrangements.
