    Harvey M. Rice, 253 Indiana Avenue, formerly a concrete gang foreman, died at 10:45 Saturday night in Galesburg Cottage hospital.

    He was born near Appleton on June 22, 1865, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Rice. On Oct. 23, 1912, he married Iva Bloss, who survives with a stepson, Bernard St. Clair Kidd, at home; two brothers Edward W. Rice of Canton, MO and George Rice of Persifer Township; and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Anderson of Lisco, Nebraska and Mrs. Lavina Lutcavish of Laramie, Wyoming.

    Funeral rites will be held at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon from the Horton Hinchliff and Wilson Funeral home in charge of the Rev. W. Harvey Young. Burial will be in Westfall cemetery near Victoria. Friends may call at the Horton Hinchliff and Willson Funeral home tonight.

    Mrs. Violetta Rice Anneker

    May 30, 1933 -- Violetta Rice, daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Westfall Rice, was born on February 18, 1868, in Copley township, Knox county, and passed away at Knoxville, May 26, at the age of 65 years, 3 months and 8 days.

    She grew to womanhood in Persifer township and was married to William Anneker in 1897. Mr. Anneker passed away in 1927. The greater part of her married life was spent in Gilson.

    Mrs. Anneker is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Leroy Rawlings of Chicago, and William, Jr., also of Chicago. The eldest son, Clarence, 19 years of age, passed away at Bridgewater, Neb., thirteen years ago.

    She leaves also three brothers, Harvey M. Rice of Galesburg, George of Persifer and Edward W. of Williamstown, Mo.; also two sisters, Mrs. Lavina Lutcavish of Laramie, Wyo., and Mrs. Anna Anderson of Lisco, Neb.

    Funeral services were conducted from the Gilson Community church Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. M.R. Stanton officiated. The song service was rendered by Mrs. Reese Pickrel and Mrs. Dick McDonald, with Mrs. Claude McCoy as accompanist at the piano. The selections, "The Old Rugged Cross," "Where He Leads Me I Will Follow" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," were used. The casket bearers were Sanford Moore, Ernest Reynolds, C.W. Mills and John Patton. Interment was in the family lot in the Gilson cemetery.

    Sept. 22, 1937 - (Special) - Funeral services for George W. Rice 61, whose death occurred Friday were held at the home Sunday at 2 pm. The Rev. B.D. Willetts and the Rev. William Henry Day Officiated. Mr. Regan and his daughter, Mrs. Ruth Sargent, of Williamsfield, sang "Will There Be Any Stars" and Old Rugged Cross." Pallbearers were Hugh McBeth, Arthur Berry, Orla Hazen, Charles Gardner, John England and Jacob England.

    George W. Rice, son of Edward and Elizabeth Westfall Rice, was born near Hebron, Ind., Nov. 9, 1875. He became sick Dec. 12, 1934, had a stroke Jan. 15, 1935, and was in the hospital three weeks. He was cared for at home the rest of the time and mostly by his wife, Mrs. George W. Rice, and had a nurse only the last 11 days.

    He was married to Gertrude S. Fields, Sept. 8, 190, at Gilson in the Methodist parsonage by the Rev. Mr. Rist.
    He leaves his widow and adopted son, Homer Edward; two sisters, Mrs. Anna E. Anderson of Lisco, Neb., and Mrs. Lavina Lutcavish of Laramie, Wyo., and one brother, Edward Rice of Canton, Mo. Preceding him in death were one sister, Mrs. Lettie Anneker, and two brothers, Frank and Harvey Rice.

    BIOGRAPHY

    From Find A Grave

    As a young girl, Edith moved to Wyoming with her family and they homesteaded north of Douglas. She received her education both in Nebraska and Wyoming. She was married to Tom Shaw on April 7, 1930. Mr. Shaw died and then she was married to Henry (Hank) Eberspecher on July 28, 1952 in Cheyenne. They lived in Douglas and Mrs. Eberspecher worked at various cafes during her working career.

    She is survived by two sons, David Shaw of Glenrock, and Richard Eberspecher of Roswell, New Mexico; and five grandchildren. There was seven brothers and sisters in her family. She is preceded in death by her parents and her two husbands.
