    GERMANTOWN HILLS - Margaret Wayve (Sarff) Giddens of Germantown Hills passed away at 4:35 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, at Heddington Oaks in West Peoria.

    She was born Oct. 25, 1921, in Snicarte, Ill., to Arthur and Mary Jane (Jennie Lane) Sarff. She married Lory Ivy Giddens in Iowa City, Iowa, on Jan. 14, 1941. He preceded her in death on April 16, 1994.

    She was also preceded by her parents; one son, Curtis L. Giddens on May 23, 2014; two brothers, Arthur and Robert Sarff; and two infant siblings.

    Margaret is survived by her daughter, Sandra Tripp of Peoria; one brother, James (Kathleen) Sarff of Chandlerville, Ill.; her daughter-in-law, Anne Giddens; four grandchildren, Laurie (Paul) Larsen of Dunlap, Eric Tripp of Peoria, Robert (Tara) Giddens of Bartonville and Julie (Daniel) Fitzpatrick of Bettendorf, Iowa; four great-grandchildren, Megan and Rachel Giddens and Sean and Kathryn Fitzpatrick; and many nieces and nephews.

    She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Peoria. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Battin/Harper Circle and the former J.O.Y. Sunday school class. For many years, she was a member of the West Bluff Christian Church in West Peoria.

    With her husband, she enjoyed traveling, volunteering for church projects and helping her family and friends. She enjoyed working in her yard and home. She loved gardening, playing pinochle, playing the piano and feeding the birds.

    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, 2014, at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the services at the funeral home. Graveside services will be in Lynchburg Township Cemetery, near Bath, Ill., at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, 2014.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Germantown Hills Fire Protection District, 313 Prairie Ave., Metamora, IL 61548; or the First United Methodist Church of Peoria Building Fund.

    PEORIA - Curtis Lory Giddens, 67, of Peoria passed away Friday, May 23, 2014, at his residence.

    He was born Jan. 23, 1947, in Peoria to Lory I. and Margaret (Sarff) Giddens. He was married to Anne (Hoehne) Giddens. She survives.

    Also surviving are his mother; his sister, Sandra Tripp of Peoria; daughter, Laurie (Paul) Larsen of Dunlap; son, Robert (Tara) Giddens of Bartonville; daughter, Julie (Dan) Fitzpatrick of Singapore; two stepdaughters, Teresa (Ali) Amer of Dubai and Stephanie (Randy) Shults of Pekin; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.

    Curtis graduated from Peoria Central High School and served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. Curtis retired from Caterpillar in 2002, after 38 years of service. His passions were golf and fishing and he always lit up a room with his sense of humor.

    Visitation will be Wednesday, May 28, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Davis-Fulton Woodland Chapel, 2021 N. University St., in Peoria. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 29, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria, following the service.

    Memorials may be directed to The American Heart Association, The Peoria Cancer Center and the Limestone Fire Department.
