Joseph Kenneth Fugate was born August 31, 1885, in Russell County, Virginia, son of Isaac B. and Margaret Fugate; died October 5, 1952 at his home near Elk Creek at the age of 67 years, 1 month and 5 days.
He was married to Gussie Erwin May 24, 1911 and to this union five children were born. They are: Carl B. of the home address; Edwin J., deceased; I.B. of Fleming. Colo.; Ruth Alford of San Jose, Calif.; Joseph Kenneth. Jr., U.S. Navy. His wife and son, Edwin J., preceded him in death.
He came to south Missouri with his parents as a small child; had spent most of his life in this community as a farmer and in business at Tyrone, Elk Creek and Stultz.
He was a kind and loving father, a good neighbor and an asset to the community.
He is survived by the children, three brothers, 3 sisters and 5 grandchildren: O. W. Fugate, Salisbury. Mo.; A. B. Fugate, Spokane, Wash.; J. V. Fugate, Lebanon. Mo.; Mrs. A. D. Leavell, Meadville, Mo.; Mrs. V. E. Lynch, Sarcoxie, Mo.; Mrs. Sylvia Moore, Danville, Ill.; an aunt, Mrs. Mary Litton, Lebanon, Ind.; and a number of cousins.

OBITUARY

Allen Bryan Fugate, an Auburn resident since 1982, died Aug. 5. 1991, in Auburn. He was 94.
Mr. Fugate was born Feb. 12, 1897, in Stultz, Mo. He lived in Missouri where he was a rural school teacher and then a watchmaker in the cities of Houston, Mo., Bremerton, Wenatchee and Spokane. Mr. Fugate was a member of the First Methodist Church of Wenatchee, the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Wenatchee and the Barnes Masonic Lodge in Cabool, Mo. He served in France in the U.S. Army during World War I.
He is survived by two sons, Robert B. Fugate of Marysville and James P. Fugate of Auburn; a daughter, Bettie Landers of Ojai,Calif.; 17 grandchildren; and 15, great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11 am Friday at Wenatchee Cemetery in Wenatchee. Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Local arrangements are by Price-Helton Funeral Home in Auburn.

Orbie Fugate, 77, of Wappapello, died Monday, July 14, 2003, at Puxico Nursing and Rehab Center in Puxico.
Mr. Fugate was born July 26, 1925, in Corning. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Wappapello, and was retired from Berry Wehmiller (Boilermaker).
On Sept. 5, 1953, he married Almarietta Griffin. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, David Fugate of Cedar Hill and Matt Fugate of Dudley; two brothers, Lawrence Fugate of Sikeston and Danny Fugate of Kansas City; four sisters, Jane Evans and Janetta Groves, both of Sikeston, Margaret Patton of Texas, and Donna Kay Franey of St. Louis; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bruce Pittman officiating. Burial will be at Post Oak Cemetery in McDougal, Ark.
Memorials may be made to Post Oak Cemetery.

Lawrence "Bud" Fugate, 65, died Oct. 10, 2008, at his home in Sikeston.
Born Oct. 27, 1942, in Morehouse, son of the late Orby Lawrence and Flora (Cole) Fugate, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Calvary and stationed in Germany. He had worked as an air quality control foreman at Noranda Aluminum.
On Oct. 18, 1965, he married Alfreda Abernathy, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Tim Finney, Bethley and Shawn Clinton, Tisha and Ron Pruitt, and Chasity and Chris Russell; one brother, Danny Fugate; four sisters, Ann Patton, Donna Kay Franny, Jeanetta Groves and Jane Skinner-Evans; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
One brother, Paul Fugate, preceded him in death.
Visitation was at Ponder Funeral Home, where funeral services were conducted. The Rev. Mary McCord, pastor of First Christian Church, officiated.
Burial followed in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
