OBITUARY
York, SC - Easter Vanhook, 82, formerly of Big Stone Gap, VA died Saturday, March 11, 1995 at her residence.
Born in Osaka, VA, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Laura Gilley Tate. She had resided most of her life in Big Stone Gap before moving to York, SC three and a half years ago. She was a member of the Big Springs Baptist Church in Crackers Neck, VA and had attended Oak Grove Baptist Church, Big Stone Gap, VA.
Surviving are her husband, W. Z. Vanhook, Sr, York, SC; four sons, William Z. Vanhook, Jr and Charles T. Vanhook, both of York, SC, Marvin R. Vanhook, West Chester, PA and Commander Robert J. Vanhook, Pensacola, FL; one daughter Linda Gay Carter, Albermarle, NC; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildrn; four brothers, Woodrow Tate, Kingsport, Creed Tate and Fleet Tate, both of Big Stone Gap, VA and James P. Tate, New Paltz, NY; one sister, Ida Fraley, Big Stone Gap, VA and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted on Tuesday in the Holding Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Silas Culbertson officiating.
Burial will be in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, Big Stone Gap, VA.
Family will serve as pallbearers.

OBITUARY
York, SC - Charles Thomas Vanhook, 65, of 3011 Vanhook Drive, York, SC, died Friday (September 7, 2012) at Carolinas Medical Center, Pineville, NC.
Charles spend the first part of his life in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. He was the son of the late W.Z. Vanhook and Easter Tate Vanhook. He graduated from Powell Valley High School and from East Tennessee State University. He worked for the Virginia Division of Mined Land Reclamation. Charles had been a dedicated member, deacon and member of the choir at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Big Stone Gap, and he was an active member in the Big Stone Gap Lion's Club.
He is survived by his son, Charles Thomas Clements (Gerri) and four grandchildren of Prior Lake, MN; sister, Linda Vanhook Carter (Conrad) of Albemarle, NC; brothers, William Z. Vanhook, Jr. (Patsy) of York, SC and Robert Joseph Vanhook (Susan) of Suffolk, VA; and a sister-in-law Ann Vanhook (wife of the late Marvin Vanhook) of Kingsport, TN.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. on Monday (Sept. 10, 2012 at Holding Funeral Home (17 E. 3rd St., N.) in Big Stone Gap, VA.
The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm on Monday in the funeral home chapel with The Rev. Mike Jones, pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church, will be officiating.
Burial will follow at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap, VA.

OBITUARY
Suffolk - Robert Joseph Vanhook , 64, passed away at home, on Friday, December 28, 2012 after a 5 year battle with Pancreatic cancer.
Bob was born on August 31, 1948 to Easter and W.Z. Vanhook in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. Bob graduated from Virginia Tech in 1970.
After graduation, Bob joined the United States Navy, where after 25 years of service to his country as a naval aviator, Commander Vanhook retired in 1995.
He was a loving husband, devoted father & grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and son. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Susan, sons Nicholas Vanhook, & Jay Glover (Teresa), grandson Hayden Glover, mother-in-law Carole Sebastian, sister Linda Carter (Conrad), brother William Zane Vanhook, Jr., brother-in-law Dan Sebastian (Marcy), sister-in-law Ann Vanhook, nephews Adam Carter, Jeff Vanhook (Stacy), William Zane Vanhook,, III (Michelle), Danny Sebastian (Michelle), Brian Sebastian (Jackie), niece Dr. Kelly Nelson (Keith), great nephews Trevor Sebastian, Patrick Lemmon, William Zane Vanhook IV, great nieces Kathleen Lemmon, Brynn Sebastian & Mia Sebastian.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Charles & Marvin, sister-in-law Patsy Vanhook, niece Laura Lemmon, grand niece Whitley Vanhook.
Bob and Susan were married 23 years. His love of duck hunting, woodworking, golf, and time spent with sons, grandson, and loving family members made his life blessed. He will be terribly missed.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held at the Nansemond River Baptist Church, 2896 Bridge Road, Suffolk, VA on Saturday, January 26, 2012 at 1 pm.
