OBITUARY

Bill Joe Tipton, 77, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at Bristol Hospice House in Bristol, TN.

He was a life long resident of Kingsport (Sullivan County) and was retired from the Mead Corp after over 44 years service. Bill was a member of Oak Glen Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Johnson Tipton; parents, William A. and Verdie Blair Tipton; two sisters, Mabel Tipton Donihe and Gaynell Tipton Ketron; and two brothers, Alfred Ray Tipton Sr. and Robert Lee Tipton Sr.

Survivors include his three step-daughters, Virginia (Mel) Osborne of St. Simons Island, GA, Rachel Hooven of Kingsport and Sue (Harry) Litton of Mobile, AL; step-son, Rocky (Carol) McReynolds of Green Cove Springs, FL; nieces, Brenda J. Huff; eight nephews, Robay Johnston, Kyle Donihe, Larry Gene Donihe, Gary Donihe, Alfred Tipton, James (Jay) W. Tipton, Robert (Robbie) Tipton and Kenneth M. Tipton.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 pm on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Oak Glen Baptist Church 2836 Yuma Road, Gate City, VA. Services will be in the church at 2 pm with Bro. Danny Sykes, officiating. Music will be provided by the Oak Glen Choir and Wesley Debord.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport. Pallbearers will be his nephews.

Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Tipton family.
