Keziah was named for her aunt, Keziah Russell who married Theodore Welch, brother to her father, George Welch. Keziah Welch's branch has been elusive as I couldn't find any records for her as an adult in York Co. ME. Then I found a clue, but no documention proving she married Ira Mandeville.

I found it in a the history of Luzerne Co. PA. "He [Ira O. Mandeville] was united in marriage in 1857 to Ellen K. daughter of George Welch, of Springdale, Me....." [History of Luzerne County, PA.,by H.C. Bradsby, 1893, Page 1147, MA - MI Surnames]

So evidently she migrated from York Co. to the Luzerne county area with her brother, Horace Moody Welch.

HENRY E. MANDEVILLE, proprietor of the Hazleton Plumbing and Steam Fitting Company, Hazleton. This popular and energetic young business man was born at Beach Haven, Pa., April 10, 1859, and is a son of Ira O. and Ellen K. (Welch) Mandeville, the former a native of Luzerne county, the latter of Maine.

Our subject, who is the elder of two children, was reared at Hazleton, and received his education at the public schools of that borough, and at La Fayette College, Easton, Pa. After completing college course he went to Philadelphia and engaged in the manufacturing of tin ware. There he remained two years, when, in 1880, he came to Hazleton and established a large hardware store, which he, in partnership with his younger brother, Ira J., ran for ten years. In 1890 the partnership was dissolved, and our subject opened his present business, which consists of plumbing, steam-heat fitting, and work pertaining to electric lights, etc., in which he employed ten skillful plumbers, kept constantly busy.

[Note: from Wikipedia on Hazleon "In 1891, Hazleton became the third city in the United States to establish a city-wide electric grid." So Harry had an entrepreneurial spirit.]

Mr. Mandeville is pleasant in all his relations with men, and those who meet him either socially or in a business way are treated with the utmost consideration. He was united in marriage October 9, 1884, with Miss Lizzie, daughter of John A. and Elsie Tubbs, natives of Luzerne county, to which union have been born three children: Helen, Wilber and Elsie. In political matters our subject is a Republican, and the family attend the Presbyterian Church.

Wilbur Mandeville, formerly of this city, died at the Cumberland Street Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y., yesterday. The body will be brought to this city on Monday and will be taken to the Bachman Funeral Parlor on West Broad street, from where funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be made in the Vine street cemetery.

DETAILS OF DEATH OF SGT MANDEVILLE

Captain of Company Writes Mother Praising Her Son's Valor In Action

Concerning whose death in the San Mihiel Drive has been received here from his Captain J. W. Janicki also of San Diego

A letter giving the account of the death of Sergeant John L. Mandeville was received by his mother, Mrs. Ida Mandeville, of 957 Twentieth Street from Captain J.W. Janicki, also of San Diego, who commanded the company to which Sergeant Mandeville was attached as a signal operator. The letter contains the details from the moment he went into action on the morning of Sept. 12, 1918, until he was struck by an enemy shell that instantly killed him and a companion. Captain Janicki highly praised the valor and the American spirit shown by Sergeant Mandeville and expressed the sympathy of all who knew him.

"Our artillery had been pounding the enemy lines incessantly since 1 a. m.," Captain Janicki said in part. "The attack was launched at the proper time, the artillery lifting as we moved forward. Your son, with a detail of 20 men, followed the infantry to establish telephone communication and his work and that of his men was marvelous. For two solid hours they seemed to have charmed lives. Every time the infantry moved they were right there and had the telephone lines installed as quickly as the infantry stopped.

"Then just as another spurt in the attack started, Sergeant Mandeville was hit by a splinter from a big shell. A fellow soldier went to his aid and while he was doing what he could to assist your brave son, another shell exploded near them and killed them both.

"Let me say, Mrs. Mandeville, this regiment and the men of your son?s former company mourn his loss. He possessed one of the most pleasing personalities I have ever come in contact with. You may be justly proud of your noble son who died on a field of honor."

Sergeant Mandeville was attached to the 359th Infantry. His original organization was C company 315th signal battalion.
