"In the Name of God Amen, the last of July 1667. I Richard Croshaw being in health and of perfect memory thanks be to Almighty God, and calling to rememberance the uncertaine Estate of this transitory life Doe make constitute and ordain this my last will in manner and form following, Revoking and annuling by those presents every Testament will and wills heretofore by me made and Declared either by word or my writing and this only to be taken for my last will and Testament and first being penitent from the bottom om my heart for all my sins committing my Soul to God my Savior by whom I hope Eternally to be saved, and my Body to be Desently buried, when it shall please God to call me in some place as Execut's hereafter named shall appoint and for my Temporal Estate I dispose order and give in manner and form following.

"Imprimis. I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Elizabeth Croshaw my land I now live on during her life, it joyning on the Indian field in Mastin parish and after her decease to my son Benjamin and his heirs forever.

"2ly. I give to my daughter Elizabeth Jones and heirs of her body forever 300 acres of Land at Mattapony according to bill of sale, and 600 acres I give as followeth it joyneth in the said Divident at Mattapony (Vizt) to my aforesaid Son 200 acres to my daughter Margaret Croshaw 200 acres and to my daughter Rachell Croshaw 200 acres and to them and their heirs forever but in case that either of my said children dye, Then it equally to be divided between the survivor or either of them my sd children, and I give and gequeath unto Villehill Hughes during his life 170 acres of Land more or lesse which formerly went by old John Holdings land joyning upon the Land of Goodman Snead and after the decease of the sd Villenill the said land to fall to my said son Benhamin and his heirs forever. And further I give to my son Benhamin one mare marked with R on the left Buttock with her increase male and female, only the first mare folo Excepted who I give and gequeath with the increase thereof male and female to my aforesaid daughter Margaret Croshaw and the heirs of her body foreever. And further the Remainder of my Temporall Estate I give and bequeath to my aforesaid loving wife Elizabeth Croshaw during her widdowhood but in case of her marriage she only to have her third and the Remainder Equally to be divided between my said three children Benjamin Croshaw, Margaret and Rachell, And I do hereby make Constitute and ordaine my aforesaid loving wife full and whole Executrix of this my last will and Testament

Write of Partition. 30th Sept, 1692. The Sheriff of York County ordered to impanel a Jury to divide 200 acres in Marston alias Bruton Parish. This land having been left to Elizabeth, widow of Rice Jones of York County, lately deceased, and Rachell wife of John Walker of King and Queen County, "sisters and co-heires of Benjamin Crotia, deceased, sonn of Mr: Richard Crotia likewise deceased." The 200 acres of land is described as adjoining the Indian field and now in occupation of Robert West.
John and Rachel Walker having lately sold their half to Col. Edmund Jennings, the division is ordered.

Need further research to confirm her first marriage to a Graves, with whom she may have had 8 children.

Thus, according to the will of Richard Croshaw and the Writ of Partition, Elizabeth (Croshaw) Jones, daughter of Richard Croshaw, was married to Rice Jones prior to July 1667 and she outlived him, being his widow when Elizabeth died in 1692.

lived on lower part of Walker at the place called the Orange Grove. His widow married Richard Tunstall, deputy clerk of the court in Essex Co. Richard moved to King and Queen Co. upon his marriage to reside at the Orange Grove. It remained in the Tunstall family except for 100 acres that was sold to Humphrey Temple.

J. Thos. Walker borne Jany ye 25 1715

He was the famous Virginia explorer of southwestern VA. and the guardian of Thomas Jefferson.

He was raised as Englishman in the Tidewater region of Virginia. Walker's first profession was that of a physician after he attended the College of William and Mary and studied under his brother-in-law Dr. George Gilmer.

Walker became a man of status in the county when he married Mildred Thornton (widow of Nicholas Meriwether) in 1741, and acquires a large portion of land from her late husband?s estate. Here, Walker would set his roots and build his home known as Castle Hill, and have 12 children, who would become prominent Albemarle Co. citizens in their own rights. He began his path to establishing his status by becoming a vestryman in April 1744, a position he would hold until 1785. He served Virginia proudly as a delegate to the House of Burgesses from Albemarle County, a trustee to the newly formed town of Charlottesville.

On July 12, 1749, the Loyal Land Company was founded with Walker as a leading member. After receiving a grant of 800,000 acres in what is now southeastern Kentucky, the company appointed Walker to lead an expedition to explore and survey the region in 1750. Walker was named head of the Loyal Land Company in 1752.

During the expedition, Walker gave names to many topographical features including the Cumberland Gap. His party built the first non-Indian house (a cabin) in Kentucky (today's Dr. Thomas Walker State Historic Site). Walker kept a daily journal of the trip.

At the age of 64, Walker again journeyed to the western areas of Kentucky and Tennessee to extend the border between Virginia and North Carolina westward. This controversial mapped border would forever bear the title of the "Walker Line" and today stands as the separating point between the two states.

He also had great influence in dealing with Indian affairs. Walker represented Virginia at the Treaty of Fort Stanwix and Treaty of Lochaber (1770) and dealt with the peace negotiations after the Battle of Point Pleasant. In 1775, Walker served as a Virginia commissioner in negotiations with representatives of the Six Nations in Pittsburgh at Fort Pitt.

Walker is also credited as the first American to discover and use coal found in Kentucky [
