    Eleanor Miriam (Roodhouse) Sterrett, 82, of 140 Imperial Drive and widow of Samuel Willson Sterrett, died at 4:10 a.m. Friday (Sept. 29, 2000) in Augusta Medical Center.

    She was born on Oct. 11, 1917, in Greene County, Ill., a daughter of Peter and Mary (Lewis) Roodhouse.

    She was educated at Lindenwood College and the University of Wisconsin and became a homemaker and volunteer following her marriage to her husband.

    She was a member of the Staunton Church of the Brethren, Sunshine Sunday school class of the church and the People of the Covenant.

    Survivors include five sons and four daughters-in-law, Tate and Theckla Ann Kincaid of Charlotte, N.C., Samuel Willson Sterrett III and Sarah Jane of Stuarts Draft, Reid Hayden and Robin of Berlin, Md., Clay Lindsay and Teresa Laine Sterrett of Staunton and Mark Roodhouse of Glenn Falls, N.Y. a brother, Lewis Weston Roodhouse of Jacksonville, Ill., eight grandchildren four great-grandchildren and a friend, Margaret Mudrowski.

    She was preceded in death by two daughters-in-law, Linda Lambertson and Jane Powell.

    A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the Henry Funeral Home by the Rev. Jerry W. Ruff with private burial.

    Pallbearers will be grandsons, Todd, Reid Jr., Bill, Dave and Samuel Sterrett III.

    The family will receive friends in the funeral home after the service.

    Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

    Samuel W. Sterrett III, 56, of 37 Flory Ave., Stuarts Draft, died Thursday evening (Oct. 7, 2004) at Augusta Medical Center, Fishersville.

    He was born May 1, 1948, in Charlottesville, a son of the late S. Willson Sterrett II and Eleanor Sterrett.

    He was an operator at ALCOA Building Products and was the former manager of Augusta Furniture Co., of Staunton.

    He attended Calvary United Methodist Church and he was a classic car restoration enthusiast.

    He is survived by his wife, Jane Miller Sterrett; one son, Samuel W. Sterrett IV of Staunton; one daughter, Sarah E. Sterrett of Stuarts Draft; four brothers, Tate K. Sterrett and his wife, Theckla, of Charlotte, N.C., Reid H. Sterrett and his wife, Robin, of Berlin, Md., Clay L. Sterrett and his wife, Teresa, of Staunton, and Mark R. Sterrett of Huntsville, Ala.; and many nieces and nephews.

    A service will be held at Calvary United Methodist Church at 2 p.m., Sunday (Oct. 10, 2004) with the Rev. Walter B. Failes Jr. and Pastor Clay L. Sterrett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

    The family will receive friends at Calvary United Methodist Church from 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 9, 2004).
