OBITUARY

Lonnie Christian, 88, of East Stroudsburg, passed away on Saturday, July 15, at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of the late Lucy Marie Perry Christian, who passed away in 1993.

Born on Feb. 2, 1918, in Blackey, Va., he was the son of the late Perry and Mary Blankenship Christian.

He was a member of the Christian Life Assembly of God in Stroudsburg.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army as a military policeman. He served in the European Theater and North Africa.

He worked at a sawmill in Avondale, W.Va., as a laborer from 1936 to 1941, then worked for the Island Creek Coal Company as a coal miner for 18 years.

He relocated his family to Pennsylvania in 1965, where he then worked at Cramers Home Center in East Stroudsburg for 27 years, retiring in 1992.

He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing but, most of all, loved spending time with his family. He was a kind and loving father and grandfather, and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Taylor, Clarence and Berlin Christian.

He is survived by three daughters, Patricia A. Sexton of East Stroudsburg, Mary Margaret Cereghino and her husband, Robert, of Stroudsburg, and Judith G. Stout and her husband, John, of Stroudsburg; a son, Lonnie S. Christian Sr. and his wife, Rebecca, of East Stroudsburg; a sister, Celia McCoy of Dade City, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, July 17, at the Lanterman and Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington St., East Stroudsburg. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, July 18, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America 801 Eighteenth St., NW, Washington, DC 20006-3517.

Earl Mullins, age 84 of 2281 Old Wolf Creek Road in Narrows passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 4th, 2009 surrounded by his loved ones.

Earl was born on June 7th, 1924 at Blackey, Virginia in Buchanan County and was the son of the late Edward and Geneva Grace Christian Mullins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Osa Ellen (Ocie) Baker Mullins; one sister, Berchie Mullins; one brother, Dearl Mullins, and a great-grandchild, Shana Cumbee.

Earl is survived by his five children, Evelyn M. Harris and son-in-law Luther Jerry of Narrows, Herbert Mullins and daughter-in-law Connie of Coker, Alabama, Douglas Mullins, Sr., and daughter-in-law Sharon of Bozoo, West Virginia, Henry Mullins and daughter-in-law Judy of Thaxton, Virginia, Arlene M. Sharp and son-in-law Walter of Narrows; twelve grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; four brothers, Arville Mullins of Wolford, Virginia, Arnold Mullins and wife Beulah of Callands, Virginia, Harold Mullins and wife Marie of Tazewell, Herlen Mullins and wife Allie Mae of Southgate, Michigan; three sisters, Belva Lester of Paynesville, West Virginia, Beulah Stacy of Abingdon, Virginia, Berta Estep and husband Andrew of Wolford, Virginia; many nieces and nephews and many friends; and some very special friends and neighbors, Jamie and Heather Albert and family, Shirley and Clinton Richardson, Nikki and Dwight Collins, and Jennifer and Timmy Stewart and Family.

The family wants to thank Good Samaritan Hospice nurses and aides for their wonderful care.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 8th, 2009 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with Rev. John Offenberger and Rev. Ward Harris officiating. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg with graveside rites by VFW Post #6000 of Narrows, American Legion Post #68 of Narrows and Post #311 of Pembroke. The family will receive friends and family at Riffe's Funeral Service Wednesday from 7 to 9 PM. With a sad and broken heart, I will try to write an obituary of Berchie Mullins, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Berchie was born September l4, 1933 at Wilford, Virginia, died July 8, 2009. She was preceded in death by her son Robert Michael Mullins, her mom and dad, Arthur and Ocie Mullins, 2 brothers Arlin and Farley Mullins of Grundy, Virginia, granddaughter Michelle Mullins.

Survived by husband Van Mullins, son Roger Lee Mullins, his fiancée Carol Proudfoot, grandson Christopher Mullins, great-grandson Zion Mullins, brothers, Paul and Jack Mullins of Elkton, MD., sisters Josephine Matney and Myrtle Ward of Grundy, VA., a special (adopted) daughter, Janet Wilson and a host of family and friends to mourn her loss.

She was a member of Elkton Advent Christian Church and retired from Plasticord.

A Funeral service, conducted by the Rev. Shannon Hall was held Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Elkton Advent Christian Church in Elkton, MD.Interment will be at 10:00AM, Tuesday, July 14, 2009, in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DEIn lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elkton Advent Christian Church, c/o Crouch Funeral Home.

Sherman Junior Christian, 64, of Elkton, MD, died Friday, April 13, 2007 in Union Hospital, Elkton, MD.

Mr. Christian was a Custodian for Harford County Board of Education. He was a member of the Charlestown Baptist Church, Charlestown, MD.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Deborah J. Christian, Elkton, MD; daughter, April Moore and husband, Shirky, North East, MD; son, Sherman (Davey) Christian, Elkton, MD; mother, Nomel B. Christian, Statesville, NC; sisters, Ruby N. Smith and husband, Ernest, Elkton, MD, Della Mae Peak and husband, Terry, Elkins, NC, Judy Christian, Stockton, CA, Kathrine Jochen, Elkins, NC, and Susie Ann Harwell, Statesville, NC; brothers, Al Christian, Tazwell, VA, Jim Christian, Hurley, VA, Harold Christian, Statesville, NC, and Jeff Christian and wife, Cathy, Statesville, NC; granddaughter, Allyson V. JIMMY CHRISTIAN 50 years of age of Wolford, VA passed away Saturday, December 6, 2008, at Buchanan General Hospital Grundy, VA follow an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Alfred C. and Ethel Stacy Christian. He was a life-long resident of Buchanan County, a wonderful brother and was a friend to all who knew him.

Mr. Christian was preceded in death by his parents Alfred C. and Ethel Stacy Christian and 1-Sister Mary Ethel Christian.
