POWHATAN, Va. ? Thomas Jackson "Tom" Christian, age 75, of Powhatan, Va., formerly of Tazewell, Va., died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012 at Elizabeth Adam Crump Manor in Richmond, Va. Born May 1, 1937 at Amonate, Va., he was a son of the late Keyser and Margaret Eugenia Howery Christian.

He enjoyed farming throughout his working years. His greatest pride was in his children.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Christian and one brother, Edward Christian.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Grindstaff Christian; three sons, Thomas Jackson Christian Jr. and wife, Karen of Amelia, Va., Edward Allen Christian and wife, Barbara of Manassas, Va., and James Keyser Christian III and wife, Monica of Winchester, Va.; two daughters, Cynthia Paige Christian of Chesterfield, Va., and Debra Ann Myers and husband, Robert of Powhatan, Va.; three brothers, Jim Christian of Florida, Bob Christian and Walt Christian both of Tazewell, Va.; two sisters, Shirley Utke of St. Martin, Calif. and Dana Bandy of Aberdeen, Md.; 12 grandchildren, Cara Christian, Thomas Jackson Christian II, David Watson Christian, Makenna Christian, Nathan Christian, Grace Christian, Jamie Christian, Samantha Owens, Casey Wood, Robert Myers Jr., Ben Myers, and Charley Myers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with the Reverend Kenny Fields officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, Va.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Christian II, David Christian, Thomas Christian Jr., Edward Christian, James Christian, and Robert Myers.

OBITUARY

Dana Lucille Bandy, age 74, of Abingdon, MD, passed away on May 4, 2014. Born in Amonate, VA, she was the daughter of the late James Keyser Christian and Margaret Eugenia Howery Christian and wife of the late Pearry R. Bandy. She was a resident of Harford County for 52 years, loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed fishing, gardening and arranging flowers.

Mrs. Bandy is survived by her daughters, Patricia Ann Walter and husband, Tom, of Aberdeen, Diane Bandy of Abingdon and Kimberly Sue Plutto and husband, Tony, of Owings; brothers, Bob Christian of Tazewell, VA and Jim Christian of Melrose, FL; sister, Shirley Utke of San Martin, CA; and a sister-in-law, Betty Christian of Tazewell, Va., grandchildren, Hope Smith, Summer Plutto and Siara Plutto; and a great-grandchild, Destiny Smith. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Mark Bandy; a sister Betsy Christian, and brothers Tom and Walter Christian.

U.S. Veteran Walter Howard Christian, age 68 of the Gratton community in Tazewell, VA died Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at his home. Born January 11, 1945 at Bandy, VA, he was a son of the late James Keyser Christian and Margaret E. Howery Christian.

He was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of Barns Beavers VFW Post # 7136 of Tazewell, VA. Mr. Christian was an avid gardener and loved growing and sharing his tomatoes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Christian; three brothers, Edward Christian, Kenneth Christian, and Tom Christian.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Burton Christian; one daughter, Tammy Christian of Texas; three stepchildren, Melissa Lowe and husband, Chuck, Stacey White and Michelle Harriston, and Keith White and wife, Rhonda all of Tazewell, VA; two sisters, Dana Bandy of Maryland and Shirley Utke and husband, Mike of California; two brothers, Bob Christian of Tazewell, VA and Jim Christian of Florida; six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Friday, May 24, 2013 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with the Reverend Mark Sexton officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Gratton, VA where military graveside rites will be conducted by members of Barns Beavers VFW Post #7136 of Tazewell, VA.
