Carl Lester Burnette, 78, of Jacksonville, died May 15, 2007, at Onslow Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Burnette was a 30-year veteran of the Jacksonville Fire Department and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He also was an avid bowler and golfer and a member of Cardinal Village Free Will Baptist Church.
The viewing for Mr. Burnette will be 3 to 5 p.m., and the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Cardinal Village Free Will Baptist Church in Jacksonville
A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Cardinal Village Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Persia Cemetery in Bulls Gap, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie G. and Minnie Beverly Burnette. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jewel G. Burnette; three daughters, Leslie Wilson and husband Rev. Bobby Wilson of Leland, Kathy Coulter and husband Bern Coulter of Wilmington and Cherry McDaniel and husband Jeff McDaniel of Richmond, Ind.; one brother, Lerty B. Burnette of Kissimmee, Fla.; two sisters: Margaret Lystad of Warren, Mich., and Anna Ruth Hauser of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; eight grandchildren, Jacqueline Laney, Cindy Butler, Renee Vaczy, Shannon Coulter, Amanda Coulter, Kelly Noe, Sandra Kay McDaniel and Jessica Jewel McDaniel-Case; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Carl Lester Burnette to Cardinal Village Free Will Baptist Church or The Parkinson Disease Foundation.
Arrangements are by Johnson Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
